Die uitdagings om gemeenskapsargiewe te ontwikkel

WITH Vaughn Sadie (Karoo Kaarte), Neil Coppen (Karoo Kaarte), Karin Tan (GALA Queer Archive) and Tina Smith (District Six Museum)

A KKNK project, supported by the NLC, Jannie Mouton Foundation, Het Jan Marais Nationale Fonds and the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport. In collaboration with GALA, the District Six Museum, the Goethe-Institut South Africa as part of the Goethe-Institut Project Space (GPS).

Join us for an engaging panel discussion as representatives of Karoo Kaarte, the GALA Queer Archive, and the District Six Museum explore the complexities of developing community archives. While every community archive aims to preserve the unique stories of its people, the panel will focus on the challenges with, and differences in how community archives work. No two communities are identical, but shared experiences and inspiration are discussed, especially in how they preserve and present their histories. Panellists share their approaches and discuss the role of memories in shaping our collective identity.
