De wals van de liefde

WITH Jannie du Toit (vocals and guitar), Marcel Dednam (piano) and Deryn Dednam (alto saxophone) SCRIPT Jannie du Toit DIRECTOR AND ADAPTATION Marcel Dednam PRODUCER JNS Musiek

Forty years after Jannie du Toit first sang a Dutch song on the State Theatre stage, “De wals van de liefde” by Toon Hermans is the title song of his new programme that consists of his personal favourites from the Dutch-language small-scale art of the twentieth century. Jannie has always found particular resonance with this music, and it has had a profound influence on his music and career. There are always requests for his “Dutch” songs: “Madeleine” and “Marieke” by Brel, those of his friends Jules de Corte and Robert Long, as well as Herman van Veen. Music lovers now have the opportunity to hear all the “toppers”, as the Dutch say, in one programme.
