Marion Monroe

WITH Marion Holm SCRIPT Marion Holm and Chris Vorster DIRECTOR Chris Vorster PRODUCER Handyminds

Marion Holm has been a favourite among KKNK audiences for 21 years, since her first one-woman show Sussie is nou suur, which debuted here in 2004. Her latest one-woman show, Marion Monroe, was nominated for Best Newly Written Afrikaans Text at Momentum Beleggings Aardklop (2024) and then sold out in record time at the Toyota Stellenbosch Woordfees. “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” According to Shakespeare. So, is Marion Holm still Marion Holm, even though people call her Nicole Holm? Is Marion still a woman even though people call her sir? What makes Marion, Marion? She tells delightful stories with her typical honesty to get her point across. There are a few new characters, but old familiars like Nakkie are still on stage.

Marion Holm is the recipient of the 2025 Kunste Onbeperk Award for Performance.
