Hertzog-award winning writer Ingrid Winterbach offers an irreverent look at South African history, colonialism, hardship and private pleasures in her latest work. J.R. and his wife, Maria, are on their way to the Cape by ship to establish a refreshment station. Blussing-Fermaak, a stowaway on the ship, threatens to hijack the mission and take the ship to the Congo to trade in slaves from there, or perhaps open a grocery chain. Theatregoers can prepare themselves for a drama in which everything is not always as it seems. With Winterbach’s distinctive humour, and a cast of top actors under the direction of Tinarie van Wyk Loots, it promises to be a highly entertaining theatre experience.
